Wing Mounting

Determine the front wing bolt location. This is dead center and usually about 7/8th” from the leading edge of the wing. Drill this hole with the corect bit to be used with an 8-32 tap. Place the wing on the fuse. Check carefully to see that the wing is centered, right and left. Measure from each wing tip to the rear of the boom for alignment. When satisfied that the wing is aligned, drill right through the hole you just put in the wing and through the front mounting plate. Remove the wing and tap the hole in the mounting plate for 8-32 thread. After this, wick thin CA in the threaded hole and let it kick. Re tap the hole. Now open up the hole in the wing to accept the 8-32 bolt. Do not oversize these holes, just so the screw will turn freely.

Now you can measure from the center of the front hole to the center of the rear mounting plate. Transfer this measurement to the top of the wing and drill the rear mounting hole in the wing with the original bit for the 8-32 tap. Now you can remount the wing with the front screw, recheck all the alignment. The critical thing here is the measurement from the wing tips to the end of the boom be the same. When satisfied, drill through the wing to make the rear mounting hole. Remove the wing and repeat as before, open up the hole in the wing and tap the hole in the mounting plate for 8-32. You now have a nicely aligned wing and the bolt holes line up perfectly with no play.
