Joining Wing Halves

Place wing cores back in beds with root end sticking out about an inch. This is the best way to hold the wings while sanding dihedral angle without damage to wings. The dihedral that I use is 6-1/2” under one tip with the other panel flat on the table. This allows excellent thermaling ability via rudder/elevater without impairing launch. Sand a slight angle into each wing root checking frequently not to over sand. It doesn’t take much so take your time here.

When satisfied with the fit turn the cores upside down and place a strip of masking tape over the joint. Turn upright and place one panel flat on the table with the tip of the opposite panel blocked up 6-1/2″. You should have a good snug fit at the panel joint. Mix 5 minute epoxy with microballoons, open up the joint and glue making sure to get complete coverage without filling the wire channel with epoxy. Prop the wing tip back up. A fair amount of epoxy will squeeze out and can be removed with a paper towel. Make sure panels are properly aligned with each other and allow to cure.
