Polecat Challenge 2005
1st Annual Polecat Challenge, 7th great year
Location: Carlisle Aeromodelers field, near Carlisle PA.
When: June 18th & 19th 2005
Two days of DLG handlaunch competition and fun. Fly with the likes of Phil Barnes, Oleg Golovidov, Don Vetter, Bruce Davidson, Tom Kiesling and yes, even Dr. Drela himself. The first three contestants to enter this year are coming from Washington state, North Carolina and Oklahoma this year. Fresh from a win in TX I might add:-) Even Doug Pike comes down from Canada. Randy Brust from Soaring Circuits. Any one and everyone
This is a premium thermal field, no slope soaring contests:-) We always have a great time and some extra carricular activities will be planned. Last year we did saturday night limbo with everyone flying my Red Wing. It was a hoot and the boys beat my plane to death before they would stop. Lunch is provided at the field both days. We fly both sportsman and expert classes with trophys for both classes both days and overall trophys on sunday in both.
This is a great way to learn and improve your skills! Most times experts will be timing for sportsman, etc. The big guys are free with advice, be it set up, flying or launch. Past atendees can verify the value of finally giving in and attending your first contest. There will be a good raffle on sunday and all pilots for the weekend will recieve tickets included in their entry fees. The raffle already includes an XP-4, the new Taboo from Oleg and a commitment from Isthmus models.
If there is enough interest I will con some of the top dogs into a clinic on saturday evening or something of that nature. Feel free to put forth your ideas here. This contest is always a social event as well as competition.
In addition the Polecat Challange will become one of the contests in the ESL HL series for those that plan on competeing in theis series.
There will only be 2 pilots max per frequency so get your registrations in early. Cost for the weekend is $35 or 1 day only is $20 AMA is required to fly.
This is not a venture for profit. After contest expenses, lunchs, raffle and such are covered if there is a profit it is donated to the Carlisle Aeromodelers youth training fund for club trainers, fuel, etc. The CAMs club graciously lets me use there field for a full weekend every year in prime flying season for the contest. Not bad for a 100 member club that is primary power flyers:-)
DO NOT MISS THIS EVENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
