Joining the Wings (cont.)

Reinforcing the Wing Joint

After wing center joint has cured remove masking tape from bottom and remove any epoxy mix that squeezed out. Open hole for wiring channel that we previously marked on the bottom of the wing cores with exacto knife or Dremel tool. Mask an area on the bottom center of the wing just slightly wider than the supplied reinforcement fiberglass. “Helpful hint” (before masking on the wing, put the strip of masking tape on your shirt and remove. This remove some of the tackiness of the tape and helps eliminate the possibility of delaming wing skin when the tape is remover) Scuff and clean the area where the reinforcement tape will go with 180# or 220# sandpaper. Remove masking tape and place a strip of the reinforcement fiberglass in position. You can attach this reinforcement with foam-safe CA or thin epoxy. Repeat process for top side of wing. Note: Make sure to not glass your flaperons in place.
