Team Polecat makes NATS XC History!

Team Polecat makes history again!  Earlier this year, Denny Maize and good buddy Ed Franz decided they’d stink things up a bit at the NATS and fly a handlaunch plane in the cross-country (XC) competition.  While Saturday was a bit windy for our little ship, Sunday turned out much better!  With Shane Spickler at the sticks (and from a discus-launch!) they managed nearly 2 miles on the course.  The ship was a specially designed XP-4 "Extreme XC".  While not an official record, the 1.9 miles around the course we believe is the farthest a handlaunch has ever made it around the NATS XC course!

4 out of 5 2006 NATS Handlaunch winners agree: Polecat Rules!  Mike Smith - 1st Place, Bruce Davidson - 2nd Place, Shane Spickler - 3rd Place and Doug "Sparky" Harnisch - 5th Place. Dave Register put up a good fight all day, but was just edged out of the wood in 6th place. Congratulations, stinkers!

Also, check out the July 21st issue of NATSNews, with a pilot profile of our own Bruce Davidson and a highlight of the XP-4.5 (which is erroneously attributed to our friend Oleg G.!)
