Doug “sparky” Harnish has aptly named this event the “Woodstock” of DLG. Two days of competition combined with good food and camaraderie and an atmosphere of being “newbie” friendly combine for a great first contest or expert level competition. There will be lunch on the field both days and a big BBQ Saturday night for flyers and friends. Saturday will include a full day of competition followed by clinics from the best in the country and after that one of the best BBQ’s you will ever attend. The Challenge traditionally such top names as Phil Barnes, Oleg Golovidov, Mark Drela, Don Vetter, Bruce Davidson, Doug Pike and many more who will eventually give me crap for leaving out their names This is very much a “Visalia” atmosphere. Every attempt is made to give all the help to newer contestants that they need to make them comfortable in the contest atmosphere. All this combined with one of the best raffles on the contest circuit combine to make the Polecat Challenge an event not to miss!
The Challenge is held on the beautiful Carlisle Aeromodelers field near Carlisle PA. There is primitive camping allowed on the field with a full service campground within 2 miles. Reasonable motels are nearby in Carlisle. Harrisburg International is an easy fly in from anywhere. The Challenge draws folks from all over the country and Canada.
Early announcement is being made because guys have told me they couldn’t come because of having to plan their vacation time well in advance and hopefully the early announcement will eliminate that excuse
